Crazy Mosaics: Fragmentation

Join Barbara Weeks for a paper design workshop for textile artists, mosaics and stained glass.

This workshop explores the art of mosaic design using a rich selection of hand-coloured, textured papers. Participants will begin with guided exercises inspired by traditional mosaic “andamento,” experimenting with classic styles such as Opus Regulartum, Tessalatum, and Sectile. The session then opens into more expressive, free-form compositions, drawing inspiration from natural patterns like cracked earth and ice formed under environmental stress. By working in paper first, participants can develop ideas freely and strengthen their creative practice, with techniques that can later be translated into mediums such as silk appliqué, ceramics, or glass mosaics.

This workshop is presented alongside the Australia Wide Nine Ozquilt Network touring exhibition.
