Celebrating its 10th year, Boogie Down South invites audiences to enjoy performances from some of Western Australia’s finest jazz and rhythm bands.

Alongside the music are spectacular dance performances by some of Australia’s leading swing dancers and internationally renowned guest instructors.

On Friday, 25 September, Adrian Hix & His Rhythm Six will play while dancers from Brisbane & Melbourne perform for audiences, who will enjoy a bird’s eye view of the swing and jazz show from level 2.

AJ Hix & His Rhythm Six deliver the irresistible sound of vintage jazz and swing. Fronted by rising star Sofie Kerr and backed by a dynamic six-piece band, they bring the spirit of the 1940s dance hall era into the modern day.

Formed in 2024 by big band leader Adrian Hicks, the group reflects his deep love of swing music, shaped by over 15 years performing at Lindy Hop events across the country. Each musician in the band is a seasoned professional in their own right, whether rising talent or established jazz stalwart, united by a shared instinct for what makes music truly swing.
